I would have thought that the recent development of instant replay at the Little League World Series would have been a topic here. Unrelated, this is a good topic too: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/07/opinion/07herbert.html

Lou-I'm so sorry that some individuals have resorted to questioning your reputation and integrity. I know how you feel. This has happened to me in the past. It seems that today more and more people are becoming increasingly vicious. My husband and I always teach our daughter to do the right thing even if it seems you're the only one doing it. It's difficult, but one should never compromise his/her character and integrity. We won't "close the blinds" either so that we live our lives ethically and are a good example for our daughter. Be strong! We're on your side!

I wish I could disagree but I can't but this is why it is so important for others to get involved, especially Board members but also other parents who witness or suspect \thsi type of behavior. Sadly some, (thankfully not most) people join Boards and coach to take care of their own self interest, kids, friends kids first and then try to justify their volunteering by saying they give their time.

Not slightly, there is not enough accountability on parents as I am seeing it way too much in town, on vacation everywhere with kids behaving poorly, using bad language and bullying right in front of their parents and their parents either ignoring or worse off, laughing it off. Thanks for the note, we must all continue to address anytime we see it, knowing that many parents do not.

This was a disgusting act. I only hope that these individuals are charged as adults. But when you really boil it down, I think the parents of the bullies are slightly responsible.

Thanks Anne-Marie. I have been traveling a lot lately and between that and just hanging out in town at kids games and watching how adults and kids treat and talk to each other is disturbing. What you mentioned above about a parent on their phone or even talking comes down to manners and class and many parents lack one or both which we all know is being observed by their own children. I am also amazed at what so many parents talk about openly in front of their children including gossip about others. We just have to keep teaching our kids and others the best we can and hope they understand right from wrong, especially in treating others with respect.

Hello Lou! Great entry today! Yes, I've noticed in the last few years, people are more obnoxious, rude and extremely self-centered. I fear that this is having a HUGE influence on how today's children will be when they grow up. They will have no regard for anyone else. Like you said, imagine if everyone just thought a little about the other guy? What a difference it would make! I was at a PTO/Information Night meeting at my daughter's school on Tuesday and while the pricipal was trying to give his presentation, a number of parents were carrying on their own conversations and answering their cell phones with no regard as to what was going on. Some even walked around! O.K....I'm done ranting! I'm with you on this issue. I always hope that maybe someday things will change. Take care!
